Modern Quilts and Silk Quilts

Bedding has gone through the evolution process just like mankind. If you know about the history of bedding you might already have an idea of how drastically the nature of bedding has changed in the last century. The modern quilt is a part of the bedding evolution process.

You might have come across these types of quilts while you were going through articles about recent trends in bedding on the internet. Recently, there has been much interest about the health impact of some types of bedding. A modern quilt is a quilt that includes all or some of these new trends in bedding.

The colours that people use to prefer on quilt covers have changed quite a lot during the recent times. Many people use to prefer quilt covers of a single colour earlier. A modern quilt on the other hand, might have the most unusual patterns and colour combinations that you can imagine. Do you want to improve the appearance of your bedroom? Then instead of going for a bedroom renovation, try to get a modern quilt that suits your bedroom. You might be very surprised after you observe the difference.

Bedding is no longer only about comfort and warmth. Appearance is also quite important. However, everyone won’t agree about the importance of appearance. If you do agree, then maybe you should go get a new modern quilt cover. Just because it is modern it doesn’t have to be expensive.

What are modern quilts?

Don’t think of a modern quilt just in terms of an eye-catching piece of bedding. It’s much more than that. Such a quilt can create a completely different atmosphere in your bedroom. If you think that your bedroom looks a bit too gloomy, you can get a quilt that will create a tranquil atmosphere. Anyone with a good eye for colour won’t find this to be a hard task.

If you want to upgrade the appearance of your bedroom, get what you can afford. If you think a modern quilt set is too much of a strain on your finances, you have the option of buying the covers.

There are so many new trends in bedding. You can detect a certain Asian influence in some trends. Some of these trends involve wide use of colours like brown, light green and off-white. A modern quilt is not just about new colour combinations either. The emphasis on the type of material used in the creation of quilts has also changed. For example, you might have seen many such new products that are advertised as organic’s

Trying to stick to the newest trend might not be a very good idea all the time. You may have noticed that a modern quilt at a friend’s place looks completely alien in his/her bedroom. You should only follow the trends that suit you.

Is Buying a Cheap Duvet Cover Worth It?

King Comforters Covers and Silk Quilts

Is Buying a Cheap Duvet Cover Worth It?

A duvet is a bag filled with down or feathers that is used as a blanket or comforter. Quality and comfort are important aspects when it comes to purchasing duvets. However, it is also equally important to find one is that is an economical choice. This is where a cheap duvet comes into play.

A cheap duvet is so because unlike comforters they do not require extra bedding such as bed sheets as it is a standalone cover. Also purchasing a cheap duvet allows for versatility. A duvet cover over this cheap duvet can change the face of one’s bedroom. Available in a variety of colours and patterns, easy to store and mainly washable, duvet covers offer an economical way of enhancing one’s bedroom. Therefore, a cheap duvet and a cheap duvet cover are easy on the pocket than other types of bedding such as comforters. Duvet covers also helps protect one’s duvet and hence saves washing time.

When looking to buy a cheap duvet it is advisable to look around. Check out the online pricing as well as look around at shops for different prices. A price comparison will help one determine what the best cheap duvet is. Some websites allows one to compare prices off different online stores as well as to compare the different attributes of the duvets. Sales as well as deals and promotions offer good bargains and gives opportunities for one to purchase a cheap duvet.

Another thing to take into consider

Another thing to take into consideration when opting for a cheap duvet is the warmth rating. The warmth rating of a duvet is measured in togs or fill power. A higher tog rating or a higher fill power both indicates an extremely warm duvet. Purchasing a cheap duvet allows one to buy a heavyweight one for winter, a middleweight one for autumn and a lightweight one for summer.

Also it is important to get the lowdown on the type of filling when buying a cheap duvet. Duvets either have manmade or natural feather fillings. Natural feather fillings are more durable and among natural feather fillings duck feathers offer the best value for money. If one is allergic to natural feather fillings, manmade synthetic ones are a good alternative and are light on the pocket.  Synthetic fillings can also be washed several times too.  When purchasing a cheap duvet, it is important to verify if the down used as a filling is not immature down. Immature down indicates a duvet of poor quality.

They are breathable and are like having your own free thermostat. It is a natural hypoallergenic and is resistant to dust mites making it very protective to sensitive skin.

Silk is gathered from silkworms which are fed on natural and pesticide free Mulbery leaves. Because the silkworms only feed on these leaves, resulting silk is some of the finest around. White in colour and made up of individually long fibres, this silk is more refined than other types of silk.

Another benefit of Mulberry silk it is is that it is 100% natural, odourless and hypoallergenic. It contains natural protein called sercine which helps reduce the possibility of allergic reaction. This allows all the silk bedding to be a safe and healthy choice for those who suffer with allergies.

The composition of silk is 97% protein which is common with the human body. Silk filaments have around 35% to 40% of space in its structure which can keep air and moisture. In hot weather silk absorbs and transfers the extra heat and moisture thus keeping a more comfortable sleeping environment. In cooler weather because of the air and the silk filaments, the silk quilt is an insulator keeping the hot air inside with no loss.

Due to silk being natural and having breathable characteristics, silk filled quilts are more flexible than other synthetic filled quilts. Unlike down, feathers or polyester silk quilts cope better with changes in your sleeping environment such as ambient room temperatures or your own body temperature.

Other ailments the Japanese and Chinese have enjoyed silk bedding for many centuries. The Chinese and Japanese believe the amino acids present in silk benefit the skin. They believe this helps prevent vascular sclerosis, helps relieve itchy skin, assist in preventing arthritis & asthma.

What is Mulberry Silk

What is Silk and Silk Worms

What is Mulberry Silk?

It’s the highest quality silk is available for purchase. The way in which it is produced is the most unique thing about Marlborough silk. It has its history in China, the local farmers have grown mulberry leaves for centuries. These leaves are what the silkworms feed on resulting in their cocoons being spun into raw silk fibres.

Because the silkworms only feed on these leaves, resulting silk is some of the finest around. White in colour and made up of individually long fibres, this silk is more refined than other types of silk.

What is Wild Silk?

There are several versions of wild silk which are all produced by caterpillars other than a mulberry silkworm. Wild silk is best known and used in China, Southern Asia and Europe for many centuries. The scale of production remained fairly small compared to cultivated silks. There are many reasons for this one being they differ from the domesticated varieties in colour texture and therefore are less uniform in appearance and structure. Secondly the cocoons gathered in the wild usually have papaya is emerging from them before discovery making the cocoon torn into smaller fibre links. Thirdly many wild cocoons are covered in minerals that stymies the ability to reel them into longer strands of silk.

Chemical Properties of Silk

Silk committed by silkworms have two main proteins, sericin and fibroin. Fibre makes up the large structural center of the silk and serecin being the sticky material surrounding it. The high proportion (50%) of glycine allows tight packing. The addition of alanine and serine makes the fibres strong and resistant to breaking. This tensile strength is due to the many interceded hydrogen bonds, and when stretched the force is applied to these numerous bonds and they do not break.

So what are Silks Usages?

It’s an absorbency makes a comfortable to wear in warm weather and while active. Its lower conductivity keeps warm air close to the skin during cool weather as well. Due to these properties is normally found in high-end clothing ranging from ties all the way up to dress suits. The tight structural nature of the fibres makes it excellent in protecting against mosquito bites as is normally hard for insect to penetrate the clothing.

The major silk producers of the world are China and India making up roughly 70% of the world production. To produce 1 kg of silk 104 kg of mulberry leaves must be eaten

Our silk duvets are filled with 100% silk and we never feel our duvets with anything else but hundreds and Mulberry silk.
